U.S. Marshals Service Declares Travis Decker Dead in Court Filing

Chelan, WALocal News

U. S. Marshals Service declared Travis Decker deceased in a court filing, which allows the dismissal of the criminal case against him for the murders of his three daughters. Decker, 31, allegedly killed his daughters—Paityn, 9; Evelyn, 8; and Olivia, 5—after failing to return them from a scheduled visitation in May. Their bodies were found at Rock Island Campground in June, prompting an extensive manhunt.

Recently, the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office reported that human remains and personal items believed to belong to Decker were recovered near the crime scene. The U. S. Attorney's Office confirmed the declaration of Decker's death in a legal filing. However, the Sheriff’s Office is still waiting for DNA confirmation to ensure the remains are indeed his.

The tragic case has drawn significant local attention due to the nature of the crimes and the impact on the community. The ongoing investigation into the remains reflects the complexities involved in concluding such a high-profile case.
