Hearing examiner to review Helions proposed CUP on Oct. 1

Chelan, WALocal News

The Chelan County hearing examiner will review Helion's conditional use permit (CUP) application for a high-impact utility facility on Oct. 1 at 9 a. m. at the Confluence Technology Center in Wenatchee. Helion submitted the CUP application earlier this summer, seeking to build the facility in the Rural Industrial zoning district located in Malaga.

Public comments were accepted until Sept. 4, and attendees can express their views at the hearing. The hearing examiner will consider both the CUP application and the comments before making a decision. The CUP is necessary for a specific use that requires a higher level of review, particularly for the facility aimed at generating power through fusion. Permitting for the generator building will not proceed until the CUP is approved.

More information, including the Zoom link for remote attendance, will be available on the hearing examiner’s webpage. This public hearing is essential for local stakeholders concerned about energy developments in the region.
