A Dozen New Wildfires Reported Burning across the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest
Lightning storms over the weekend sparked a dozen small wildfires in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, with the Dirty Face Fire being the largest at 6. 5 acres. Located 18 miles northwest of Leavenworth, Washington, this fire has 25 personnel on site, and aerial support is being utilized due to difficult terrain. The Mac Creek Fire, measuring 2. 5 acres, is also active near Leavenworth.
Other small fires include the Augusta Fire at 3/10 acre and the Boggy Fire at 1/5 acre, both in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness. Firefighters are focused on building control lines and monitoring challenging conditions. Aerial reconnaissance flights will continue over the coming days to identify any potential holdover fires. The Methow Valley Ranger District also reported several small fires, including the Rock Pass Fire, which is now out. Residents are advised to call 911 to report any smoke or new wildfire sightings.
