Lake Chelan School Board approves bond oversight committee, taking applications

Chelan, WALocal News

The Lake Chelan School District Board established a Bond Oversight Committee to oversee financial activities related to a proposed bond measure for the November 4 election. This committee will consist of 10 members, including local business, financial, and construction professionals, as well as parents from the district. Its primary role is to maintain accountability and transparency in the bond program's execution. Members will meet quarterly to review financial documents and participate in contractor selection processes. The committee's recommendations will guide the superintendent and board, though it cannot directly obligate district funds.

The group will remain active until all major bond projects are completed and most funds are allocated. Applications for committee membership are currently being accepted, with Superintendent Wilson urging interested individuals to reach out. This initiative aims to build public trust in the district's handling of bond projects.
