Chelan house fire kills two, injures two cause under investigation
A house fire in Chelan resulted in two fatalities and two injuries early Thursday morning. Firefighters contained the blaze at a two-story home on E. Woodin Avenue, which was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived around 5:10 a. m. Eleven people were inside the house, with two requiring medical attention; one male victim was treated and released, while a female victim was transferred to Harborview Medical Center for further care.
The home, built in 1935, was declared a total loss as efforts to prevent the fire from spreading to nearby structures were successful. The investigation into the cause of the fire is ongoing, with assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Washington State Patrol. Authorities implemented a temporary detour on E. Woodin Avenue during the response, thanking local residents for their patience. The names of the deceased remain undisclosed pending autopsy results and notification of relatives.
Such tragedies underscore the importance of fire safety measures in residential areas.
