Two Die in Early Thursday Morning House Fire in Downtown Chelan
A devastating house fire in Chelan early Thursday morning resulted in the deaths of two residents, whose identities remain undisclosed. Chelan Fire and Rescue Chief Brandon Asher confirmed that firefighters responded to the three-alarm fire call in less than four minutes and extinguished the flames within an hour and a half. Two additional occupants were hospitalized, and it is believed that 9-12 people were in the home at the time. The cause of the fire is under investigation by multiple agencies, including the WSP Crime Lab, ATF, and the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office. The fire also caused damage to a neighboring business and residences, leading to the destruction of three vehicles and a boat.
Chief Asher emphasized the quick response of local fire departments, which included assistance from Manson, Wenatchee, and Orondo. Community members are left in shock as they await further updates on the investigation. This incident highlights ongoing concerns about fire safety and emergency response in residential areas.
