DNR Enacts Eastern Washington Burn Ban Beginning Friday, July 18
The Washington State Department of Natural Resources (DNR) has implemented a burn ban across Eastern Washington, effective July 18, due to escalating wildfire risks from hot, dry weather. This ban covers all outdoor burning activities, including campfires and charcoal briquettes, on DNR-managed lands in the Northeast and Southeast Regions. Currently, multiple wildfires are actively burning in the state, which has raised concerns among officials. Commissioner Dave Upthegrove stated, "We need to do everything we can to keep our state and firefighters safe," urging the public to help prevent further wildfires. With fire dangers remaining high, this restriction aims to minimize potential ignition sources.
DNR officials recommend that outdoor enthusiasts prepare for fire season by staying alert to environmental changes and adhering to local regulations. Residents who observe smoke are advised to report it by calling 911. For more information on wildfire safety, the public can visit DNR's website.
