Deputies from the Chelan County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene, identifying Steven C. Leighton and Alexis C. Pipkin inside the residence. The investigation revealed that Pipkin worked for the cleaning service but was present outside of normal business hours, while Leighton was not affiliated with the company.

They were found with personal belongings and clothing belonging to the homeowner, leading to their arrest for residential burglary. Pipkin also faced an identity theft charge for initially identifying herself as her sister during the encounter. The homeowner's proactive monitoring of security footage played a crucial role in the timely response of law enforcement.
