Pomas Fire Update Monday, July 7, 2025
The Pomas Fire, now spanning 2,415 acres, has led to a Level 1 Fire Advisory for Holden Village, affecting local infrastructure, including the Rio Tinto Mine water treatment plant. Firefighters are tackling the blaze primarily in the Entiat River area, where challenging terrain poses a low risk for fire spread. Two hotshot crews are constructing direct containment lines supported by aerial water drops from three helicopters. The Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest has enacted Stage 2 Public Use Restrictions, banning campfires and other activities to mitigate fire danger. While the advisory excludes Lucerne, residents in the impacted area are advised to stay vigilant.
The Incident Management Team is also addressing the Apple Acres fire and preparing for potential new fires nearby. Firefighting resources include 11 crews, 10 engines, and 8 helicopters, emphasizing the aggressive suppression strategy in place. The combination of hot, dry, and windy conditions continues to challenge firefighting efforts.
