Authorities seize money, vehicles, drugs in major operation at Beyond Wonderland music festival at the Gorge
A drug bust operation at the Beyond Wonderland music festival in George, Washington, led to eight arrests and ten criminal cases, underscoring the ongoing battle against drug trafficking at large events. The Columbia River Drug Task Force and Grant County’s Interagency Narcotics Enforcement Team seized approximately $15,000 worth of cocaine, along with other illegal drugs, bringing the total street value of seized substances to nearly $30,000. Authorities noted that this proactive operation targeted a venue previously linked to drug-related incidents. Chief Ryan Moody highlighted the significance of inter-agency collaboration in enhancing public safety and addressing community issues that often affect neighboring counties. The festival, which showcases various electronic dance music genres, has become a focal point for drug-related activities, prompting law enforcement action.
The operation successfully removed dangerous narcotics from circulation and aimed to reduce the risks associated with large gatherings. Sheriff Mike Morrison praised the effectiveness of pooling resources and sharing intelligence among agencies. This collaborative approach not only protects residents but also establishes a stronger defense against the spread of illicit drugs in the region.
