Pomas Fire Update Saturday, June 28, 2025
The Pomas Fire is burning in the Glacier Peak Wilderness, primarily affecting heavy dead timber from the 2015 Wolverine Fire. Firefighters report that the blaze continues to spread north into Ice Creek and south along the Entiat River, but it is not exhibiting aggressive behavior. Crews are focusing on the Tommy Creek and Shady Pass Roads, where they are reopening trails and improving firebreaks. Smoke is forecasted to affect communities such as Entiat, Chelan, and Winthrop, prompting warnings about air quality. The Glacier Peak Wilderness, including Ice Lakes and Silver Falls Campground, is closed to protect public safety.
With warm and windy conditions prevailing, firefighting efforts face challenges due to critically low fuel moisture and abundant dead timber. Approximately 500 personnel are involved in the response, with management set to transition to Pacific Northwest Team 7 on Sunday morning. The community has expressed gratitude for the ongoing firefighting efforts.
