Pomas Fire Update Tuesday, July 1, 2025

Chelan, WALocal News

The Pomas Fire continues to spread within the Glacier Peak Wilderness, affecting areas previously burned by the 2015 Wolverine Fire. Firefighters are employing three hotshot crews and three Type 1 helicopters to establish containment lines and helispots for logistical support. Additional resources, including engines and heavy equipment, are working along Tommy Creek Road and Shady Pass Road. Although there are no evacuation orders, crews are assessing containment lines and planning protections for private properties nearby. The forecast of higher temperatures and lower humidity could lead to increased fire activity and smoke production.

Smoke may impact visibility in Entiat, Chelan, and Winthrop. The rugged terrain and heavy brush pose challenges for direct suppression efforts. Currently, the fire is 12 air miles from the Pacific Crest Trail, which remains safe from threats.
