Community Foundation awards 31,800 in grants to youth-focused programs across NCW
The Community Foundation of North Central Washington awarded $31,800 in grants to youth-focused programs across Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan counties. The NCW Foundation for Youth Grant, launched in 2017, offers up to $1,000 for local initiatives that benefit young people, with grant cycles occurring every two months. This year, funding supported a variety of projects, including music programs, outdoor recreation, leadership development, and efforts to combat food insecurity. The largest grant, totaling $10,300, was given to the "Shop with a Cop" initiative by the Wenatchee and East Wenatchee police departments, which provides holiday support to children. Beth Stipe, executive director of CFNCW, stated that the goal is to equip local organizations with resources to create enriching opportunities for youth.
Other grant recipients included food programs administered by local churches and educational initiatives in schools. The foundation continues to accept applications year-round, ensuring it can quickly respond to community needs. More information is available on the foundation's website.
