Lee University's Ashleigh Simes Wins Gulf South Conference Commissioner Trophy

Ashleigh Simes from Lee University won the Gulf South Conference Commissioner Trophy, continuing a tradition of excellence as the fourth consecutive Lee athlete to receive the award. The ceremony took place on Thursday evening in Pensacola Beach, Florida, where the GSC honored its 2024-25 Top Ten award winners. Simes, a women's tennis player, is the seventh all-time winner for Lee University, joining previous recipients like Kate Dirkse and Beck Burnette. The Commissioner’s Trophy recognizes student-athletes who demonstrate outstanding performance in athletics, high academic achievement, and significant community service. Tommy Murr from the University of Alabama in Huntsville received the men's award.

With this latest win, Lee University has accumulated seven commissioner's trophies, ranking behind Delta State, Valdosta State, and the University of North Alabama, each with 13. Simes' achievements include being the 2025 ITA DII Senior Player of the Year and leading her team to its first-ever NCAA postseason.
