AAA Predicts Record Travel for Memorial Day Weekend in Tennessee

Chattanooga, TNLocal News

AAA predicts that 948,000 Tennesseans will travel at least 50 miles from home during the Memorial Day weekend, an increase of over 23,000 travelers compared to last year. The organization is preparing to assist more than 356,000 stranded drivers nationwide and is activating its Tow to Go program to combat impaired driving. This program has successfully removed over 25,000 impaired drivers from the road since its inception. As summer approaches, a recent AAA survey reveals that 56% of Tennesseans plan to take a trip this season, up from 49% last year, indicating a growing enthusiasm for travel. AAA stresses the importance of safe driving practices during this peak travel time, especially in light of the 100 Deadliest Days for Teen Drivers, which begins after Memorial Day.

The increase in travel and the activation of safety programs highlight the need for awareness and responsible driving as the summer season unfolds.
