Chattanooga Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Attempting to Contact Minor
Brandon James McGarvey-Rogers of Chattanooga pled guilty to attempting to make sexual contact with a 14-year-old child, receiving a 20-year sentence from Catoosa County Superior Court. The sentence includes seven years in the Georgia Department of Corrections, followed by probation under strict sex offender conditions. The case began when McGarvey-Rogers used Snapchat to send sexually explicit messages and images to the minor, who had clearly stated their age. After the child reported the incidents to the Ringgold Police Department, an investigation led to McGarvey-Rogers's identification and confession. District Attorney Clayton M.
Fuller highlighted the need for parental vigilance regarding children's online interactions and issued a warning to potential predators. He stated, 'If you harm our children—you’re going to prison. We don’t negotiate with predators. ' This case underscores the ongoing challenges of child safety in the digital age.
