Burn Ban Takes Effect June 15th in Unincorporated Skagit County

Burlington, WALocal News

Skagit County will enforce a modified burn ban starting at 8:00 a. m. on June 15, 2025, due to anticipated weather conditions that increase wildfire risk. All burn permits will be suspended, and no new permits will be issued for residential or land-clearing fires. Recreational and cooking fires are still allowed but must adhere to strict guidelines, including size and safety measures.

Fire safety requirements mandate that a responsible adult must supervise the fire, and firefighting resources must be on hand. The ban aims to mitigate wildfire threats and protect community health during adverse weather. Residents should check for additional restrictions, especially during “Red Flag Warnings” or air quality burn bans. The Northwest Clean Air Agency and Washington State Department of Natural Resources oversee agricultural and silvicultural burning permits, respectively. For further inquiries, residents can contact the Skagit County Fire Marshal’s Office.
