Skagit Valley College (SVC) is set to host an open house and reception on March 21 for the "Around the Americas" education and research sailing expedition, attracting public interest in marine science and conservation. Scheduled from 3-6 p. m. at Spring Street Pier in Friday Harbor, the event will feature opportunities for community members to explore the research vessel, S/V One Ocean, and meet the crew. This groundbreaking 14-month voyage will be manned by a five-person crew, which includes two undergraduate marine science students.

They will collect open-source scientific data aimed at benefiting educators, researchers, and students worldwide.
