Burien, WALocal News

During a recent hardhat tour, developers revealed advancements on the Merrill Gardens Senior Housing and Pillar Properties apartments in Burien, with completion expected by late summer. The four-story Merrill Gardens will feature 126 senior apartments alongside 70 parking spaces, while the six-story Pillar Properties will offer 228 apartments and 248 parking spaces. Fifty deposits for the senior housing have already been made, prompting developers to announce upcoming staff hiring. Burien City Council members participated in separate tours to avoid creating a quorum. The Town Square development has expanded since its initial phase in 2009, which included a library and city hall complex.

The new projects aim to enhance housing options for seniors and contribute to local community growth. Construction progress reflects a commitment to meet the anticipated fall opening. These developments may play a significant role in addressing housing needs in the Burien area.
