Budget, zoning, taxes more on agenda for Monday nights Burien Council meeting

The Burien City Council is set to meet on December 2 at 7 p. m. to deliberate on important local matters such as budget adjustments, zoning changes, and climate change responses. City Manager Brian J. Wilson will present a weather forecast update and request $800,000 from the Port of Seattle for the Miller Creek Culvert Replacement project, which aims to enhance fish passage and restore the stream ecosystem.

The council will consider several key ordinances, including amendments to the 2019-2020 biennial budget and the introduction of a new business and occupation tax model. Zoning code amendments regarding accessory dwelling units will also be on the agenda, reflecting ongoing efforts to address housing needs in the community. Discussions will extend to regional climate initiatives, with resolutions supporting a clean fuels standard and a joint commitment to climate action in King County.
