City Of Burien Seeks Input On Zoning Designations For Newly-Annexed Area Public Hearing Nov. 24th
Burien's Planning Commission is preparing for the annexation of the North Highline “South Annexation Area,” following voter approval in August 2009. The city aims to convert existing King County zoning designations to new City of Burien designations as part of the annexation process. The first planning meeting will take place on November 10, while a public hearing for community input is scheduled for November 24, both at Burien City Hall. Residents are invited to participate and submit their comments for consideration. The Planning Commission will review the feedback and make recommendations to the city council, which is required to adopt zoning for the area before the annexation occurs in March 2010.
Additional information on the proposed zoning changes, including maps, is available online. This step is crucial for establishing local governance and land use regulations in the newly annexed area. Successful zoning adoption will facilitate the integration of the annexed region into the city’s planning framework.
