New Soap Box Derby races will speed down SW 152nd Street on Sat., June 16

Burien, WALocal News

Burien will kick off its first Soap Box Derby Races on June 16 at Noon, with a course set on SW 152nd Street. The event welcomes all community members to participate, divided into three racing categories: kids (ages 8-12), teens (ages 13-19), and adults (20 and older). While children under 8 cannot race, they can enjoy crafting activities that allow them to create small kit cars. Organizers urge residents to gather teams and start building their soapbox vehicles for this exciting competition. Applications and a complete set of rules are available at the Discover Burien Office, located at 427 SW 152nd Street, or online at their website.

The Derby aims to enhance community engagement and provide a fun-filled day for families and friends. Local businesses and groups are encouraged to participate, fostering a spirit of camaraderie. This inaugural event is expected to become a cherished tradition in Burien.
