The Highline Schools Foundation awarded a record $120,000 in scholarships to graduating seniors from Highline Public Schools, marking the highest amount offered in its history. At a board meeting on May 18, 2016, thirteen students received certificates of recognition from Superintendent Dr. Susan Enfield. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at the Puget Sound Skills Center, where students from the culinary arts program provided a dessert buffet. The Bill Maynard Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Tuyen Tran, who plans to study International Business at the University of Washington-Tacoma, highlighting her active involvement in DECA and volunteerism.

The Light & Love Scholarship recognized Andrew Schons and Elizabeth Van Flandern for their demonstrated kindness and character over the years. Andrew plans to attend the Cornish College of the Arts to study Visual Art. The scholarships reflect the foundation's commitment to supporting local students through the generosity of individual donors and corporate partners. This initiative not only aids students financially but also honors the legacy of community members like Bill Maynard and Dominick Pappas.
