The Burien City Council will hold a special meeting on May 12, 2025, to discuss housing policy, budget amendments, and economic development. The meeting will open with proclamations for Public Works Week and Affordable Housing Week, highlighting the city's focus on housing affordability. The Affordable Housing Week proclamation states, “We recommit ourselves to ensuring that all residents in Burien live with dignity in safe, healthy, and affordable homes. ” A presentation on House Bill 1754 will update the council on regulations concerning temporary encampments hosted by religious organizations. The agenda also includes the Burien Business and Economic Development Partnership Annual Report and discussions on a proposed levy lid lift.

Council members will evaluate updates to the Human Services General Fund allocations, which include a grant to the Children’s Therapy Center. Furthermore, multiple ordinances will be adopted, including amendments to the budget and rental housing inspection codes. Public comments will be accepted online.
