'Walk-n-Talk' through Burien's Mathison Park this Sunday, Dec. 7

Burien, WALocal News

Burien's monthly Walk-n-Talk event is set for Sunday, Dec. 7, beginning at Burien Town Square and concluding at Mathison Park. This free walk invites participants of all abilities, including families and dogs, although the 2. 1-mile route features a challenging slope. Walkers will gather on the grassy knoll at Burien Town Square, located at 5th Place SW and SW 152nd Street.

Mathison Park, dedicated in 2006, spans five acres and was largely established through donations from local families, including the Mathisons. Eric Mathison, a local writer, highlighted the park's significance to his family and the community, noting the natural beauty it offers. The park connects to local history, as it honors the legacy of Herman Nickolas Peters, who homesteaded the area in 1889. Previous Walk-n-Talks have successfully engaged the community and raised awareness of local parks. This event continues to promote outdoor activity and community bonding.
