Five Highline Public Schools honored by state for growth and achievement
Five schools in Highline Public Schools received accolades from the Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction for their performance in the 2023-24 school year. CHOICE Academy and Raisbeck Aviation High School were recognized for achievement, while Gregory Heights, Midway, and White Center Heights Elementary Schools were honored for growth. Superintendent Ivan Duran expressed pride in the dedication of students, staff, and families that led to this recognition. The growth category celebrates schools making significant progress in closing achievement gaps, while achievement reflects high performance in key academic areas over three years. The recognition program identifies schools through a partnership between the OSPI, State Board of Education, and the Educational Opportunity Gap Oversight and Accountability Committee.
Schools earn distinction based on one year of growth data or three years of achievement data. The district aims to build on this success and continues to focus on improving educational outcomes. This recognition highlights the importance of community collaboration in fostering student success.
