VIDEO Seattle Southside Chambers 2025 Education and Workforce Summit focuses on student career pathways
On April 24, 2025, the Seattle Southside Chamber gathered over 100 leaders in business, education, and government for its Education and Workforce Summit to strengthen the student-to-career pipeline. Highline School Board President Joe Van led a panel discussion that highlighted the necessity of collaborative action to tackle regional workforce challenges. Mayor Dana Ralph expressed that the community must unite to support students transitioning into the workforce. Local high school students, including Jayden Young from Choice Academy, called for more mentorship and hands-on experience. Dr.
Ivan Duran, superintendent of Highline Public Schools, pointed out that students are still recovering from pandemic impacts and must be prepared for future jobs that have yet to be created. Panelists shared insights on workforce readiness, equitable access, and the importance of industry partnerships. The summit encouraged participants to commit to actionable solutions, such as internships and legislative support. The event underscored the collective responsibility of community leaders to enhance workforce outcomes for the region’s youth.
