New COVID-19 vaccination clinic for transportation workers opens at Sea-Tac Airport

Burien, WALocal News

The Port of Seattle has opened a COVID-19 vaccination clinic for transportation workers at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, partnering with the Washington Department of Health, FEMA, and Safeway/Albertsons. The clinic aims to deliver up to 2,000 vaccines per week, prioritizing essential workers in the aviation sector who have been vital during the pandemic. Port Commissioner Stephanie Bowman highlighted the need for convenient vaccine access for airport employees, stating, “They deserve our thanks, and they need immediate and convenient access to a vaccine. ” Eligible workers include custodial staff, aircraft cleaners, and security personnel, with the clinic operating by appointment only. Vaccination opportunities will expand next week to include airport dining and retail workers.

Safeway/Albertsons oversees vaccine acquisition and logistics, ensuring efficient storage and handling. The Port continues to collaborate with maritime industries to support vaccination efforts for workers in those sectors. This initiative reflects the broader push to protect essential workers and enhance public safety as travel resumes.
