Burien City Council selects Adolfo Bailon as new City Manager Wednesday

Burien City Council appointed Adolfo Bailon as the new City Manager on June 15, 2022, concluding a thorough selection process. The council unanimously chose Bailon over Andrea Snyder and Gerald Smith after several days of interviews and discussions. Bailon, originally from Los Angeles, CA, has experience as Town Manager in Randolph, VT. His selection is subject to a background check and the negotiation of an employment agreement. The council is set to formally approve his appointment during a special meeting on June 27, 2022.

This transition follows former City Manager Brian J. Wilson's resignation in December 2021. Carolyn Hope has served as the interim City Manager since January 16, 2022. The council engaged GovHR USA for the recruitment process, with consultant Ryan Cotton facilitating candidate selection.
