Treehouse kicks off back-to-school drive season for Youth in Foster Care
Treehouse launched its annual back-to-school drive to meet the rising needs of youth in foster care during the pandemic. A recent survey revealed that 49% of youth reported urgent requests for essentials, including clothing and school supplies. Community Engagement Officer Erika Lanier stressed the importance of virtual donation drives, which ensure safety while providing necessary resources. All contributions will be processed online, as Treehouse is not accepting in-person donations at this time. Founded in 1988, Treehouse serves over 8,000 youth statewide, focusing on their educational and career achievements.
The organization is dedicated to fighting structural inequities affecting these youth, aiming for them to achieve stable housing and living wage jobs. Donors can start a drive by emailing Treehouse or visiting their website for more information. This initiative highlights the significant impact of the pandemic on foster youth and the community's role in supporting them.
