Hugo Garcia announced his candidacy for Burien City Council, Position 1, currently held by Pedro Olguin. The deadline for filing candidacies in King County is the week of May 17-21, 2021. Garcia, who immigrated from Guadalajara, Mexico, in 1988, has resided in Burien since 1991 and has served as the Chair of the Burien Economic Development Partnership and a Planning Commissioner. He emphasizes the importance of building resilience in Burien's local economy during the ongoing economic and health crises. "I have the experience, commitment, and values needed right now to make our community stronger for all residents," he stated.

His campaign will prioritize collaboration with community members and stakeholders to enhance local business opportunities and address housing needs.
