ELECTION RESULTS 1 King County Proposition No. 1 passing with nearly 60 approval

King County voters approved Proposition No. 1 with 59. 72% support, as unofficial election results revealed on Tuesday. The proposition authorizes a seven-year property tax levy starting in 2026 to support the countywide forensic fingerprint and palmprint identification system. Out of 254,172 ballots counted, 151,495 voters endorsed the measure, while 102,189 rejected it.

Voter turnout currently stands at 17. 81% of the 1,427,439 registered voters in the county. These results will remain unofficial until King County Elections certifies them on May 5. The approval of this measure signifies a strong commitment to enhancing the county's forensic capabilities. The funding will facilitate technological upgrades essential for accurate identification and public safety.

This initiative responds to ongoing demands for improved forensic services in the region.
