Seattle City Light crews will impact traffic on SR 99 509 this Friday, Aug. 27

Burien, WALocal News

Seattle City Light is set to undertake significant construction work on Friday, August 27, 2021, replacing overhead fiberoptic cables over State Routes 99 and 509. This operation will lead to intermittent rolling slowdowns enforced by the Washington State Patrol, affecting traffic in both directions on these busy highways. Drivers should anticipate delays of up to 15 minutes as crews pull cables across the roadways, particularly between South 116th Way and South 96th Street on SR 99, and South 96th Street to South 128th Street on SR 509. The rolling slowdowns will occur from 12:01 a. m.

to 4 a. m. , with normal traffic speeds resuming once vehicles pass the affected area. To minimize disruptions, motorists are urged to plan alternate routes and stay informed through real-time traffic updates available on the WSDOT mobile app and Twitter feed. This construction is part of ongoing efforts by City Light to enhance infrastructure reliability in the area.

For more details on City Light's projects, residents can visit the official website. Ensuring safety for both workers and motorists is a priority during these operations.
