Second annual 'Back to School Resource Fair' a huge success Thursday

Burien, WALocal News

The second annual 'Back to School Resource Fair' was held on August 6, successfully distributing over 500 backpacks to students in need. The event featured Superintendent Susan Enfield and principals from Des Moines, Parkside, North Hill Elementary, and Pacific Middle School, who greeted families and highlighted available resources. Highline Public Schools representatives provided essential information regarding transportation, free and reduced lunch options, and early learning resources. Organized by a coalition of local businesses and services, this fair underscores the community's commitment to supporting students and their families. The City of Des Moines played a crucial role in this effort, particularly through its Parks, Recreation & Senior Services department.

The Highline Schools Foundation expressed pride in contributing to such a significant community event. Looking ahead, the organizing committee aims to expand the fair's reach to include students from Mount Rainier High School next year. This initiative not only addresses immediate educational needs but also fosters a spirit of collaboration among local organizations and residents.
