WABI Burien is organizing its second Weekday Walkers event on September 18, starting at 9 a. m. from Grand Central Bakery, located in downtown Burien. This month’s theme celebrates the beginning of the school year, with the walk featuring Seahurst Elementary and the historic Lake Burien School Memorial Arch. Participants should arrive by 8:45 a.

m. to ensure a timely start. The route is a flat loop of approximately 3 miles, expected to take about an hour, with an optional extension to Highline High School adding another 1. 2 miles. The event encourages community engagement, highlighting the importance of supporting local businesses, such as Grand Central Bakery, known for its pastries.

Historical notes enrich the experience, detailing the legacy of Lake Burien School from its establishment in 1926 until its closure in 1976, with its entrance ornaments preserved in the Memorial Arch.
