Doug Stamnes, the long-serving soccer coach at Kennedy Catholic High School, has announced his retirement after an impressive 32-year career. His tenure saw the girls' soccer team achieve a remarkable record of 480 wins, alongside 21 league titles and 5 state championships, marking him as a pivotal figure in the school's athletic history. Coach Bob Bourgette expressed profound gratitude for Stamnes' dedication to the student athletes and the broader school community. Inducted into the Kennedy Catholic Athletic Hall of Fame in 2014, Stamnes will be honored for his contributions this spring. Michelle Beattie has been appointed as the new head coach, bringing a wealth of experience from her extensive coaching career, which includes roles at various schools and clubs.

A former collegiate athlete herself, Beattie has been recognized for her leadership and commitment to soccer. The transition represents a significant moment for the school's athletic program, as it seeks to build upon the strong foundation laid by Stamnes. This change not only reflects the evolution of the program but also the importance of nurturing young talent in the community.
