Burien City Council Votes to Approve Contract for Adolfo Bailon to be Buriens Next City Manager

On June 30, 2022, the Burien City Council appointed Adolfo Bailon as the new city manager, with his tenure commencing on August 8, 2022. This historic appointment marks Bailon as the first person of color and first Latino to lead the city. The selection process was thorough, involving community feedback and a national search that garnered over 50 applicants, ensuring that the council found a leader aligned with the community's values. Bailon’s extensive experience includes serving as Town Manager for Randolph, VT, and as director of the Mayor’s Center for City Services in Providence, RI. His commitment to fostering a prosperous Burien was echoed in his statement expressing honor at being chosen for the role.

Mayor Sofia Aragon praised Bailon's experience and leadership qualities, emphasizing their importance in addressing upcoming challenges for the city.
