Lanzamiento del Conectores de la Comunidad

Burien, WALocal News

The City of Burien is launching the Community Connectors Program to improve civic engagement among its diverse communities. This initiative seeks to leverage the knowledge and experience of trusted community leaders, particularly from immigrant and refugee backgrounds, to enhance representation in city planning processes. Connectors will advise city staff on current engagement practices, assist in updating vital plans such as the Open Space, Recreation, and Parks Plan, and help improve community feedback systems. The program's first phase prioritizes recruiting connectors fluent in Spanish, Vietnamese, or Amharic, ensuring inclusivity and effective communication. Participants will receive $50 per hour, fostering a sense of ownership and involvement in local governance.

This initiative not only aims to bridge gaps in communication but also empowers community members by connecting them with essential resources and services. For further details or to apply for the program, individuals are encouraged to visit the official Burien website. This initiative represents a significant step towards inclusive governance and community empowerment in Burien.
