Charges filed against two teens accused of shooting at police in chase through Burien
Two teenagers, a 17-year-old and a 15-year-old, face felony charges after allegedly shooting at law enforcement during a police pursuit in Burien that ended in Des Moines. The incident unfolded early on June 25, when deputies pursued a Honda Civic believed to be involved in a prior Seattle shooting. During the chase, the suspects fired at a deputy's patrol vehicle, leading to their capture after they fled on foot. The 17-year-old is charged with Assault in the First Degree and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, while the 15-year-old faces charges of Assault in the Second Degree and Attempting to Elude a Police Vehicle. A judge ordered the 17-year-old to be placed under electronic home monitoring, but prosecutors quickly sought a $500,000 warrant for his arrest.
The 15-year-old remains detained as the investigation continues into other shootings linked to the same vehicle. Their next court appearances are scheduled for July 13 and June 30, respectively. This case highlights ongoing concerns about youth violence and illegal firearm possession in the region.
