Chocolate culprit steals candy from Highline United Methodist Church

Burien, WALocal News

On February 23, Burien Police responded to a reported break-in at Highline United Methodist Church. Pastor Kathleen O’Connor found an intruder inside and heard footsteps before the suspect fled the scene. Deputies searched the church but found no damage or anything missing except for approximately $5 worth of chocolate candy. The police indicated that the suspect's motive remains unknown, raising questions about safety in local religious institutions. O’Connor's quick action in locking the door and calling 911 prevented any potential confrontation.

The church, located at 13015 1st Avenue South, serves as a community hub, making such incidents particularly concerning for local residents. Investigators have not released a suspect profile, humorously noting that any chocolate lover could fit the description. This incident underscores the importance of security measures in places of worship.
