4 candidates have filed for 3 available Burien City Council seats, so far

With just over a month until the May 15 filing deadline, four candidates have entered the race for three Burien City Council seats. Incumbent Mayor Krakowiak is actively seeking re-election and announced her candidacy on her blog in December 2014. Candidate Bell leads in fundraising with $6,969 reported, while the other candidates have yet to disclose any financial information. Martinez, one of the candidates, responded with a “no comment” when approached for details. The Washington Secretary of State indicates that online candidate filing will commence on May 11 and conclude on May 15.

Candidates who wish to withdraw must do so by May 18 at 4:30 p. m. The filing fee for council seats in Burien is set at $72. King County Elections plans to hold candidate workshops to assist those interested in running for office.
