Burien citizens mostly satisfied with city government no light rail for the city
Burien residents show a high level of satisfaction with their city government, as indicated by a recent survey where 80% reported positive interactions with city staff. However, the survey also highlights growing concerns about crime and education, with nearly half of respondents prioritizing public safety. Michelle Neiss from DHM Research stated that 70% of residents feel Burien is moving in the right direction, marking an increase since 2014. The survey, costing taxpayers $22,000, involved 350 residents and was conducted by telephone over four days. While most residents are pleased with police services, there is a call for more visible patrols.
Furthermore, the city council was informed that plans for rail connections to Seattle and Sea-Tac Airport are unlikely for another 25 years. The survey indicates a shift in residents' perceptions, with 33% more feeling adequately informed by the city. Overall, the findings suggest an improvement in city staff interactions and a need for addressing public safety concerns.
