Burien, WALocal News

Burien will host its 9th Annual Public Art Walk-n-Talk on Sunday, August 1, 2021, at 2 p. m. , starting in front of Wells Fargo Bank. Participants will embark on a 1. 75-mile route to discover public art installations, including sculptures and murals, that reflect local artistic collaborations.

The walking event accommodates individuals of all abilities, and pets are also invited. Attendees are encouraged to adhere to CDC guidelines regarding facial coverings and social distancing. In 2013, the city created a walking map featuring 23 public art pieces, and although new artwork has been added, this event allows participants to explore at least 20 pieces. The Burien Public Art website offers additional resources, including photos and artist information. This initiative not only promotes local art but also strengthens community bonds.

"Only through art can we emerge from ourselves and know what another person sees," said Marcel Proust, highlighting the event's significance.
