Derrick Boss, the 44-year-old owner of Above & Beyond Asbestos Removal, was sentenced to 105 days in jail for multiple offenses, including posing as a licensed asbestos removal contractor. His actions endangered the lives of homeowners and workers, notably his own son, by exposing them to harmful asbestos without adequate protective measures. Boss pleaded guilty to several charges, including forgery and second-degree theft, as he operated his business without a proper license and forged documents to misrepresent his qualifications. The Washington State Attorney General’s Office took action after numerous violations were reported, highlighting the dangers associated with unlicensed asbestos removal. He is required to pay restitution of $13,350 to four clients, reflecting the financial impact of his fraudulent activities.

This case sheds light on the critical need for stringent regulations in hazardous material handling and the potential health risks involved.
