Quite the catch: Man hooked bank deposit bags, Stanwood police say
A 27-year-old man from Blaine has been arrested for allegedly stealing from bank deposit boxes in Snohomish and Skagit counties using an unusual method involving fishing gear and glue traps. The suspect employed fishing line, hooks, and Tomcat Glue Board traps to extract bags from night deposit boxes at banks including Wells Fargo and Heritage Bank. After receiving reports from bank employees, police found glue traps inside the deposit boxes, leading to the suspect's identification through surveillance footage. He was arrested following a brief police chase and now faces 13 counts of second-degree burglary, being held in Snohomish County Jail with a bail set at $65,000. Local banks have reported over two dozen similar thefts recently, highlighting a concerning trend in the area.
