Bothell man charged with smoking meth before fatal Evergreen Way crash
In a tragic incident, Sean Baskins, a Bothell resident, has been charged with vehicular homicide after a high-speed crash on September 21, 2021, that claimed the life of 43-year-old Thomas Ogden. Witnesses reported that Baskins was driving his Nissan Pathfinder at extremely high speeds, with estimates ranging from 70 to 100 mph in a residential area. The driver was seen weaving through traffic and running red lights, alarming those nearby. After colliding with Ogden's Nissan Frontier, both vehicles overturned, resulting in Ogden's death from blunt-force injuries. Baskins, who admitted to smoking methamphetamine shortly before the crash, displayed erratic behavior when approached by police, including making statements of guilt.
Prosecutors are pursuing additional charges against Baskins, including a DUI from a separate incident in May 2021. This incident highlights the dangers of reckless driving and the impact of drug use on public safety. The case is set for arraignment on November 7, and Baskins could face substantial legal consequences.
