The Herald welcomes new environment reporter
The Daily Herald has announced the hiring of Eliza Aronson as its new environmental reporter, a position she is well-prepared for due to her background in marine biology and investigative journalism. Earlier this year, she completed fieldwork on the Oregon coast, demonstrating her dedication to environmental issues. At the Eugene Weekly, Aronson covered various topics, with her most notable work being an investigation into drugging incidents at University of Oregon fraternities, which led to significant changes in university protocols. She replaces Ta’Leah Van Sistine, who left the Herald in September. Michael Henneke, the interim managing editor, expressed excitement about Aronson's potential to positively impact local reporting.
Additionally, her personal interests in watercolor painting and scuba diving enhance her connection to environmental topics. Overall, her addition strengthens the Herald's commitment to addressing pressing local environmental concerns.
