Highway 529 to close for months between Everett, Marysville

Bothell, WALocal News

Travelers using Highway 529 between Everett and Marysville will experience significant disruptions in 2024 due to extensive bridge repairs. The state Department of Transportation has announced a four-month closure of the northbound Snohomish River Bridge, set for spring, during which all traffic will be rerouted to the southbound bridge, potentially causing bottlenecks. Additionally, full weekend closures will begin on February 2, affecting the southbound lanes of Highway 529 from Marysville to the Steamboat Slough Bridge. The East Marine View Drive on-ramp will also be closed throughout the northbound bridge repairs. This initiative addresses aging infrastructure and aims to improve traffic flow, particularly as bottleneck conditions have become common in the area.

The southbound Steamboat Slough Bridge, built in 1954, will also undergo future repairs. Travelers are encouraged to plan ahead and seek alternative routes to minimize disruptions during this construction period.
