Orcas Island’s storied Rosario Resort finds a local owner

Bothell, WALocal News

The iconic Rosario Resort and Spa on Orcas Island has been acquired by Empower Investing, a company founded by local resident Chris Robison. This marks a historic moment as it is the first time a local has taken ownership of the beloved landmark, which holds sentimental value for many in the community. The new owners plan a series of renovations aimed at enhancing the visitor experience while maintaining the property's historic essence. Following a temporary closure earlier this year that resulted in the layoff of 47 staff members, the resort has reopened and is now taking reservations for lodging and events. The previous owners, the Barto family, expressed gratitude for their 15 years of stewardship.

With new ownership comes hope for revitalization and a commitment to community investment, and local officials and residents are optimistic about potential positive changes and collaborations with the new owners. Empower Investing's vision for the resort is eagerly awaited by both visitors and the Orcas Island community.
