2 arrested in fatal shooting of man in road near Snohomish
Authorities in Snohomish have made two arrests in connection with a tragic shooting that left a 29-year-old man dead on September 15. The victim was discovered in the 18800 block of Yew Way after allegedly engaging in drug use with Phoenix Myers Barnes and Alan McLean, who were both arrested following the incident. Eyewitness accounts and surveillance footage led detectives to focus on Barnes, who reportedly shot the man after a violent altercation occurred while they were in the backseat of a vehicle. Barnes allegedly exited the vehicle armed, arguing with the victim before firing gunshots that struck the man in the head and back. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner's Office later ruled the death a homicide due to multiple gunshot wounds.
As of now, Barnes remains in custody with bail set at over $3 million, while McLean's bail is set at $1 million. Both men face serious charges, including second-degree murder and second-degree assault. This case underscores ongoing concerns regarding violence and substance use in the community, prompting further investigation and public discourse.
